Sometimes its ok that the stars are so far away
But then you have those moments when you look up and they just aren’t
You find youself in wandering
Gazing at something so close
But light years have so much more in common with connections than numbers and distance
So you gaze on
Hoping to one day see what all the fuss was about in the heavens
Then the star brightens
You blush
And it was all for something
Just not anything you could touch
At least not yet.
Sometimes its ok that the flavor is at the bottom of the cup
But then you look down and realize that there are many swirls of flavor to go
You find yourself wanting to just touch what’s sweet at the end
But string up such pleasure has more in common with beans than hands and movements
So you gaze on
Hoping to soon see what all the fuss was about in the news
Then the cup thins
Your lips pucker
And it was all for something
Just not anything you could taste
At least not yet.
Sometimes its ok that you aren’t nearby
But then the electrons remind you that those moments too are precious
You find yourself taking an adventure in words
But traveling to places that light reaches earlier and tastes compose of something saltier
So you gaze on
Reminded at the ding that fuss was indeed stoping for
As the screen brightens
And the cursor moves
Your eyes wait in anticipation for that space to be removed
And it was for something more than feedback
But for a distance that had to be resumed
Until the next moment
When the stars weren’t so far away
The cup was a bit warmer
And a heartfelt moment could
Just for the moment
Be closer.
