Peeking at My Top Posts of 2010
Well, I can say that this year was truly a transitional one. I went to doing MMM full-time, haven’t changed my primary mobile device, lost and regained the use of a mobile web server, got an iPad, and have traveled to the west coast a few times. Its been busy, and none of that has stopped the amount of writing that I do here. So, I looked back to see what gets your attention since I write so much.
This list is a good bit easier than the ones I did for MMM, since I keep topics simple and don’t use tags. That said, I was kind of shocked to see the items that are (and remain) on this list:
#10: The Librarian and the Yellow Canoe
Kind of surprising, but probably speaks to the fact that I should probably write a few more of these short stories.
#9: Carnival of the Mobilists #226
This was one of the few times that the Carnival had missed a week, and so there was ample attention paid to the suite of posts that week.
#8: Nokia Plug and Touch Blends Screens and Gestures
One of the coolest pieces of mobile tech that I’d seen demonstrated all year. Weirdly enough, I beat many of the major sites to the web with this post despite not attending the event where it was demoed (whoohoo).
#7: Carnival of the Mobilists (@cotmobilists) No. 237
The Carnival makes frequent appearances on this list. Its one of the more efficient ways attract attention.
#6: Carnival of the Mobilists #219
This was probably one of the most special hostings since it happened on my birthday. Very grateful for the birthday wishes from around the world on this one.
#5: Carnival of the Mobilists No. 242
Of all the times that I’ve hosted, I don’t think any have been as meaty as this one. With the Carnival now being a monthly affair, more often it will be like this one.
#4: Becoming the Jetsons
What can I say, I like living in the future and the Jetsons had a huge influence on me. I’m going to be proven right with this one, and Nokia very well could pull it off.
#3: A Small Nokia N97 and X6 Comparison Review
Reviews always seem to get hit, and compairson reviews even moreso. I was surprised at the response this post got. Wish I still had a working X6 to do another.
#2: Tilting Screens and Gesture Capturing UIs
A simple post isolating a common issue I run into with the amount of screens I carry, and it too seems to get continual attention. Maybe this means someone is actually building this (I hope).
#1: PayPal, Bump, the iPhone, and Why Your Credit/Debit Cards Don’t Matter Anymore
Weird. Totally weird. I get it. I remember how long I took to write it. But weird. This post continually gets hit – and for a while folks were coming from banking institutions to this post. The conversation never developed around whether people liked it or not, but it sure seemed that PayPal and several others continue to given how much it gets hit. This will be a reality in the US in 2011 – just wait.
Man, that’s just a small tasting of the amount of writing that I’ve done this year. What’s coming for 2011? Probably more of the same – then again, I am known to think a bit different
